In the lead up to 30 June 2024, there are multiple opportunities to save tax, but you need to be aware of how these new laws may affect your options. New changes include: 💼 New Tax Rulings from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) that may dramatically restrict how you can distribute profits from a Family Trust out to your family. 💼 A Court unwinding a Trustee’s Family Trust Distribution when 2 children complained they didn’t get enough money. 💼New guidance from the ATO that affects “Professionals” and restricts the way they can spread their income across their family group. On top of this we will have a Federal Budget in May this year where we expect significant tax and superannuation changes and the usual pre-30 June tax planning opportunities to save tax. Recent change to Construction Business Financials ✋ QBCC @qbccbuildbetter Minimum Financial Requirements (MFR) Reporting has changed. 1️⃣ They will now accept special purpose financial reports 2️⃣ If your construction businesses turnover is under $30M What does this mean? This is great news! It = simplified reporting in order to meet your QBCC license financial reporting requirements. Reducing the likelihood of impacts to your day to day operations 🙌 Don’t know what MFR is? Let’s take a step back- If you are in the construction industry, you are required to submit Minimum Financial Requirements (MRF) reporting to the Queensland Building Construction Commission (QBCC) ~ if your revenue has increased by more than 10% of your allowable turnover, as set by the QBCC. ~ or if your net tangible assets have decreased by more than 30% (for certain types of businesses, for SC1, SC2 and categories 1-3, up to $30M turnover) Refer to our bio link for more info.
